By varying the angle between your skis' base and the snow,
you alter the amount of friction on the skis' edges.
In order to apply your edges, you must be able to roll your knees from
side to side over your skis.
To do this you must maintain a flexed stance
at your ankles, knees and hips.
The rolling movement actually originates
in your hips as you rotate your femur, pushing your thigh inwards. Try
it first standing on the flat.

Your edges are sensititve intruments. You should be able to control carefully
the amount of edge you apply, from none at all, up to the maximum
the snow will hold.
