With the rapid increase in backcountry skiing and boarding, demand for quality avalanche training has increased dramatically. This 2 ½ day course is an ideal first course for those new to travel in avalanche terrain and a great review or upgrade for anyone who had some experience or prior training but feels they need a skills "tune up".
The training is provided by IFMGA mountain guides who are experts in backcountry travel and safety. Upon completion of the course everyone receives the course Certificate of Training.

Participants on a foundation level course can expect a minimum of 4 hrs of classroom instruction and about 10 - 12 hours of field instruction in the following subjects:

An introduction to how avalanches form & release

| | Dates throughout the season are usually available on request subject to availability and numbers. Advanced Avalanche Awareness course are also available for more experienced skiers, boarders and mountaineers.

| Mountain Awareness Course Information |
Skill and Stamina Level These courses are suitable for intermediate and advanced skier or boarders; this course is not suitable for complete beginner skiers. Off piste skiing experience is not required.
| Cost £175 per person including all course fees, all training material and certificate of training.
Group Numbers
Minimum group size is 5, maximum size is 12 with 2 guides.
Course Duration
2 1/2 days, the majority of which will be spent out on the mountain.
Equipment
Participants will need to bring their own skis/boards, transceiver, shovel and probe, day pack and valid lift pass. A note book and pen is needed for the classroom activities.
Insurance
Each participant must have insurance for personal accident, rescue and third party risks and skiing off piste.
Proof of your insurance must be provided before commencement of the course.
