| Off-Piste Ski & Snowboard Trips
|
|
We are delighted to be able to offer an expanded programme for 2005/6 so that you can enjoy great off-piste instruction and guiding in a number of new alpine resorts including Andermatt, St Anton, Val Thorens and La Grave.
For the first time we also have trips running to North America with a great powder week in Fernie and 2 "Best of" trips to Colorado and Utah & Wyoming.
This is all in addition to our existing programmes in Chamonix, Ste Foy, Verbier, Morzine and Alagna & Gressoney.
We have also been working on our grading system and replaced our previous grades (level 1 and level 2) with 4 new grades: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert. We hope that this will make it easier for you to choose the course that is right for you; and also ensure that our groups are all compatible. If you have any questions (or comments about the grades), don't hesitate to contact us.

Please note: Off-piste trips do not include flights or lift passes.
|
| About the trips |
The trips are open to everyone who wants to explore the slopes beyond the piste with expert tuition from IFMGA mountain guides and internationally-qualified ski instructors.
The groups of equal skiing ability are kept small (max 7) so that you really benefit from the expertise and enthusiasm of your guide.
With their professional, friendly approach, the focus is on developing your confidence in a safe and rewarding environment.
On the off-piste weeks, accommodation is provided in fully-catered chalets or comfortable hotels. On Ski Touring and Ski Safaris you stay in a combination of hotels, guest-houses and high-alpine mountain huts.
On a Mountain Tracks holiday you'll be amazed at how quickly your skiing can improve whilst having so much fun!

| Can you do it? |
Each trip has a different skill and stamina rating but in general these clinics are suitable for intermediate to expert skiers with the clinics being divided into 4 levels:
Beginner: New to off-piste or maybe dabbled in the soft stuff alongside the piste. Competent and confident on most pistes. Keen to move into the exciting world beyond the marked runs.
Intermediate: Skied a little off-piste in soft snow and can get down OK but struggle in the tricky stuff like crust. Would really benefit from more tuition.
Advanced Starting to feel you can safely negotiate most conditions off-piste but still lack confidence on steeper pitches and in tricky conditions. Your style and technique can be improved.
Expert Strong all-round skier with plenty of off-piste experience. Can cope with most conditions confidently, competently and with minimum faff! Willing to try it all: steeps, breakable crud, speed, ice, spring snow, deep powder.
If you are uncertain whether you eligible for a trip, contact Mountain Tracks for advice.
